The Colorado Rapids currently have one of the best looking Major League Soccer jerseys throughout the league with their burgundy and light blue combination, but it wasn’t always that way, in fact their jersey was mainly forest green in the body of the jersey. When the MLS started in 1996, Reebok was in charge of doing the Colorado Rapids jerseys and compared to some of the Nike designs, their soccer jersey was kind of tame, in fact you could say their jersey had a classic soccer jersey look. But to make this story even stranger, the team changed their colors once again right around the 2003 season to royal blue and black when Kappa was the designer of their soccer jerseys, well we can in fact breathe a sigh of relief that adidas took over and gave them the team colors they now have.

That all changed in 1999 when Kappa was allowed to design their soccer jersey and they added some wavy designs in the body of the jersey and sleeves, almost looking like water designs in a river. It seems like after that failed design, Kappa took the jersey to a plainer look with the body of the jersey being solid white with green piping and a green body with black piping in the body of the jersey. These jerseys were a marked improvement over their 1999 design, but in 2003 they decided to change not only the jersey design with adding vertical thick stripes on the jersey, but they made the team colors royal and black which really got away from their roots.

It then in 2006 when adidas took the reigns over the jersey design and tried to go back to the teams roots by doing the jersey in the team’s original colors green, black and white but the team really needed to form a new identity and that was when the team got a great makeover in 2007 with the team’s current club colors; burgundy and sky blue. Fans of the Rapids should really love their new soccer jerseys for the upcoming season and if the team has a great season, you should start to see the Colorado Rapids jersey gain popularity among soccer fans east and west of Colorado.
