The WPS or Women’s Professional Soccer debuted their new Puma uniforms on February 24th, 2008 and the event quickly turned into a fashion event. In fact if you go to the WPS website, they will even tell you that the uniforms Puma created were deemed cute tailored and superfunctional! uniforms, which is great but there’s one thing missing, the uniforms really aren’t that cute. In fact most of the teams have pretty boring soccer uniforms that are basically two colors which is great if you are wearing the shirt to the gym for a workout, but when you are trying to win back fans to support your league you might want to have soccer uniforms that offer more so that people might actually want to purchase them. Now we aren’t saying these new soccer jerseys are a complete disaster as the first MLS jerseys, we’re just saying they aren’t all that great either.

It’s a shame that the league which has been in the works for a few years now decided to agree to let Puma off the hook by settling on these uniforms to the public. This is the second go around for a women’s professional soccer league and the league should have demanded more with these uniforms by putting out a better look. If you look at the US Women’s national soccer team’s jerseys from Nike you’ll notice that they is more of a design to the uniform and the jerseys are very popular with the female soccer population. If I had a teenage daughter, I wouldn’t spend the money on one of these new WPS jerseys in fact I would keep purchasing the US women’s Olympic and World Cup jerseys since those soccer jerseys offer just a bit more for the soccer consumer.
