Everton and Chelsea Go the Way of Neon Yellow for Their Jerseys

Dec 22nd, 2008 | By admin | Category: European Club Soccer Jerseys

If you were guessing the soccer jersey colors Premier League teams would be wearing over the past two years, I bet the color neon yellow would have never been guessed. Yet not one, but two teams have chosen the neon yellow jersey color as part of their away and third jerseys. I remember when Chelsea first broke through with the news that they were going to use this jersey in 2007-08 and the word I immediately thought of was shocked. We all see teams using all black jerseys to change things up, but to use a color for your jerseys that would be recommended only when jogging out at night was indeed quite shocking. So when Everton decided to use the same neon color for their third jersey in 2008-09, the shock wore off, but the question still remained, why would a team use this color? Take a look at both jerseys side by side and look how similar they are.

We’ll be honest, it’s not our favorite color soccer jersey to look at, but perhaps if we watch more games when this jersey is being worn it will start to grow on us, just like the all black jerseys did when they first became popular. We wrote earlier about if you wanted to stand out and wear a great looking jersey, that you should purchase the Blackburn home jersey, well if you really want to stand out than you would get the Chelsea away jersey or the new Everton third jersey.
