Well according to Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand has all but claimed Arsenal out of the running to win the English Premier League title this season. On an article on ESPN.com, Ferdinand said “It is not beyond Arsenal but it is my personal opinion that it will be between the other three this season.” The thinking behind this comment is that the top teams start to pull away from the pack around Christmas time and onward, but with the recent slump from Chelsea, Liverpool and yes Manchester United we aren’t seeing any team wanting to make the claim that they are the team to beat this season.

In fact, twice this month none of the top four teams won on a weekend, so it’s really any teams race to win including Arsenal but they will need to start winning games starting with Liverpool this Sunday if they do in fact want to be included in the Premier League race at the end of the season. Now we aren’t sure teams use newspaper clippings as bulletin board material before games, but when players from other teams claim you are out of the race before Christmas has got to light a fire under Arsenal which should lead to a fantastic 2009 part of the season.
