The new 2009 England soccer jersey
was showcased on March 28th, but when we were looking at the jersey we couldn’t decide it is truly looked like an authentic soccer jersey or if it resembled a polo shirt. The first thing you quickly notice about this 2009 England home soccer jersey is that it’s eerily plain, something you would found worn at Wimbledon or by one of the soccer coach’s on the sidelines, not actually on the soccer pitch. With all of the hype going into this jersey, we were hoping that Umbro would put some great looking designs onto their jersey as they have done in the past, but this new design really disappoints on all parts of the jersey
Taking a look at the Umbro website, they boast that this new jersey is bringing together innovative design philosophy with classic English tailoring. Perhaps the classic tailoring is correct and the design of the jersey is perhaps revolutionary but they forgot to dump some money into the creative department to make the design resemble an actual soccer jersey. You almost get a sense that when the team puts on the new jersey that they have a soft look and they won’t want to dirty up their new all white uniforms, now we all know this is untrue of the England team, but this is an impression we get when we see them on the field.
There’s not doubt the new England soccer home jersey is high tech and no doubt very comfortable to wear as they left no detail uncovered, it’s just that we wish they put some more design or better yet some color into the body of the jersey. We’d like to hear your thoughts on their new jersey whether it’s good or bad as we love to hear what our viewers think of all soccer jerseys. The new England kit is brilliant.
Absolutely brilliant kit. I have been a lifelong England fan for over 20 years and this one really hits the spot. Simple, elegant. You don’t need fancy designs on something as timeless as the England kit. Its a throwback to the 1960s and 70s in a good way, this is a trend I noticed with other kits as well and LONG may this continue!

Glad to see the comments coming in. What do you think it they added the Three Lions, sublimated into the body of the jersey, perhaps in a gray or silver?
Have you seen the updated England home jersey look? There is a added Poppy and British Legion patch on the front of the jersey.

Although the shirt is plain looking it gives a classic touch to the new england kit.
