Feb 26th, 2010 | By admin | Category: Soccer Jersey NewsEvery soccer team participating in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa that wearing Nike soccer uniforms will be save the planet. Reading an article on MarketWatch.com we found out that the Nike World Cup soccer uniforms will be made out of recycled polyester, each one produced from up to eight recycled plastic bottles.
The uniforms were made by discarded plastic bottles from Japanese and Taiwanese landfill sites and were then carefully melted down so that a new polyester yarn could be produced which was then made into the fabric for the jersey. You can read more about this green effort made by Nike to help reduce energy up to 30 percent by clicking here.
We can only hope more soccer uniform companies take the same effort and do their part to create a lesser impact on our environment.
